Boxer puppy collapses in stranger’s driveway looking for help

Boxer puppy collapses in front of man’s driveway – when he looks closer at the fur, he spots something horrific…

Izabella St. James, known as a dedicated pug mom and rescuer, is the heart and soul behind The Pug Queen, a non-profit she founded to save pugs from suffering and give them the lives they deserve.

While pugs will always hold a special place in her heart, she didn’t hesitate for a second when she saw a heartbreaking post about a boxer puppy in desperate need of help.

Losing to much blood

The poor puppy, covered in ”thousands” of ticks, was discovered collapsed on a driveway in Fresno, California. Isaac, the man who found her, immediately took action after a closer look at her fur, scooping the pup up and keeping her safe while waiting for help to arrive.

Upon hearing the news, The Pug Queen reached out, her heart breaking for the tiny soul. ”She stole my heart immediately. I have never seen a dog with this many TICKS. I instantly offered to pay for her vet visit if anyone could take her to get Bravecto ASAP, an exam and testing,” she shared.

Amy from The House Of Muddy Paws, a rescue in Fresno, also stepped in, rushing the puppy to the vet before spending hours painstakingly removing ticks from her tiny body. The process was grueling, and after some time, Amy had to stop because the puppy was losing too much blood.

”She has anemia so we have to be careful. The ticks will continue to die & fall off throughout the night,” the rescue posted, showing the severity of her condition.

Took her to Los Angeles

The Pug Queen didn’t just stop at offering moral support — she also paid the $438 vet bill, ensuring the puppy could receive the urgent care she needed. But her work didn’t end there. She arranged for the puppy to be transported to Los Angeles, where Wayne, a foster dad for pugs, would care for her while she continued to heal.

The puppy, named Precious Betty, finally started to experience the love and care she so desperately needed.

Her future looked much brighter and Izabella was closely monitoring her progress, sharing that “I would like to do a more complex, more expensive tick PCR test to be sure. I’d also like to do a Respiratory PCR test & a fecal test to make sure she has nothing contagious before I feel comfortable sending her to a Foster Home.”

And after a long journey of recovery and love, Precious Betty found her forever home. The pup, once covered in ticks and struggling to survive, has now been adopted by Katie and her family, making her a beloved member of their household.

On the very first day in her foster home, Katie and her family knew Betty was there to stay. As Izabella St. James shared: “Talk about foster failing!”

Changed her name

Katie, who had previously adopted Betty Spaghetti the Pug from Izabella, clearly has a soft spot for dogs with the name “Betty,” but it quickly became clear that this Betty needed a new name to reflect her fresh start. And so, Betty the Boxer was lovingly renamed Bean, a name that now symbolizes her new, bright future.

Izabella expressed her joy in seeing this little neglected Boxer finally find the love she deserves: “This little neglected, starved Boxer girl has been ADOPTED by one of our wonderful TPQ families. Her name is BEAN. And she is very lucky Bean indeed!”

Katie, who is also the founder and CEO of Unique-Vintage.com, has been a long-time supporter of The Pug Queen. She previously donated pug sweaters for the organization’s raffles and has shown a commitment to supporting women of all sizes through her company. Izabella took a moment to highlight Katie’s dedication: “If you haven’t heard of her company, please check it out. She stands for women of all sizes, and I love when us pug ladies can support each other.”

Thanks to the generosity and love of Katie, Eric, and their girls, Bean now has a forever home filled with care and affection. It’s a heartwarming ending to a story that began with neglect but is now filled with hope and happiness.

Bean quickly adjusted to her new life with Katie’s family. In just a few weeks, the once fragile puppy transformed into a lively, tail-wagging bundle of joy. No longer timid or unsure, Bean would race across the backyard with the girls, her energy renewed by nutritious food, proper medical care, and most importantly, the love she’d never known before. Her days of lying helpless and blood-drained on a driveway were behind her, replaced by warm blankets, playful squeals, and treats she could finally savor.

Every evening, Bean curled up on the couch with the family, her favorite spot nestled between Katie’s daughters. They had created a space just for her—a soft bed surrounded by plush toys, with her name stitched into a small pillow. She had become more than a pet; she was part of their story, a daily reminder of resilience and the magic of second chances.

Katie frequently shared updates with Izabella, sending photos and videos of Bean’s progress—her first bark, her clumsy jump onto the couch, the proud way she strutted around the house with a toy in her mouth. Izabella, moved to tears with each update, often posted these moments on The Pug Queen’s social media, not only to celebrate Bean’s new life but to show supporters what their kindness and donations could make possible.

The outpouring of support didn’t stop after Bean’s rescue. Inspired by her story, new donors stepped forward, wanting to be part of this mission. Messages flooded in: “I saw Bean’s journey and couldn’t stop crying. Thank you for saving her,” one supporter wrote. Another added, “I’m donating in honor of Bean. She reminded me why rescue work matters.” Bean had become a symbol of everything The Pug Queen stood for—compassion, action, and transformation.

Izabella often reflected on how one life can ripple outward. Saving Bean wasn’t just about rescuing a puppy—it was about showing what love can do when people act without hesitation. Isaac, who found her. Amy, who worked tirelessly to remove the ticks. Wayne, who opened his home. Katie and her family, who gave her a forever future. Every link in the chain mattered.

Meanwhile, Bean’s health continued to improve. Follow-up tests showed that her anemia had stabilized and that she was parasite-free. The more advanced tests Izabella had insisted on turned out to be vital. Though Bean tested positive for a minor tick-borne infection, it was caught early and treated successfully. Her appetite soared, her coat began to shine, and her once-weary eyes now sparkled with confidence.

In between her responsibilities at The Pug Queen, Izabella made time to visit Bean in her new home. Their reunion was as emotional as one might expect. Bean leapt into Izabella’s arms, tail wagging furiously, nuzzling the woman who had never met her in person until that day—but who had made every part of her recovery possible. It was a full-circle moment that left everyone, including Izabella, misty-eyed.

Katie later recounted, “Watching Bean run to Izabella like she knew her all along was one of the most touching things I’ve seen. Dogs remember kindness.”

Bean’s story also encouraged Katie to become more involved in advocacy work. She began promoting adoption through her brand’s platform, creating awareness campaigns about the importance of rescuing animals in need. She even launched a special collection of apparel inspired by Bean’s journey, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to The Pug Queen’s rescue operations.

As Bean settled into her new routine—morning cuddles, midday naps, evening walks—her transformation was undeniable. No longer the abandoned, helpless creature on the brink of death, she now radiated strength and joy. Her resilience was a testament to the power of collective care, to the difference that one act of compassion can make when others choose to follow.

Izabella often used Bean’s story when speaking at events or fundraising campaigns. She didn’t need elaborate words; the images alone—before and after—told a story more powerful than any speech. “This is what rescue looks like,” she’d say. “This is why we keep going, even when it breaks our hearts.”

And that’s what Bean had become—not just a dog with a second chance, but a symbol of hope. A reminder that in a world filled with hardship, there are still people willing to save the ones others forget.

As summer turned to fall, Bean continued to thrive. She was stronger, happier, and more confident than ever. On her first birthday in her new home, Katie and the girls threw her a little celebration. There was a dog-friendly cake, party hats, and even a banner that read “Happy 1st Birthday, Bean!” Izabella sent a gift basket full of treats and toys, along with a handwritten note: “You will always be one of our most precious rescues. Live your life like it’s one big tail-wagging adventure.”

That night, as Bean dozed off surrounded by her favorite humans, she looked every bit the cherished family member she had become. Her journey—from a driveway in Fresno to a safe, loving home—was not just a story of survival, but one of grace, community, and a second chance that changed lives.

And for Izabella, Katie, and everyone touched by Bean’s journey, there was no doubt: this little Boxer was meant to be saved. Meant to be loved. Meant to be Bean.
